Commex Vulcan HTX Dual-Port 10 Gigabit Server Adapter is a unique and full solution for the ever-growing demand for application performance scalability. Equipped with Commex Thunder's patent-pending hardware-implemented classification and action engine, Vulcan provides the application with only the network traffic it needs, when needed, and delivered directly to the core that handles it. Utilizing classification mechanisms such as pattern match (PM), Receive-Side Scaling (RSS), Smart Routing, multiple DMA channels, queues, and priority scheme results in dramatically higher performance and reduced power consumption. The same classification capabilities guarantee reliability and availability which is manifested in an extensive set of Bypass and Failover modes. Server longevity is assured when using Vulcan as its advanced multicore scalability capabilities enable simple upgrade to a higher core-count processor for added performance.

Multicore Scalability of Network Traffic

Vulcan is capable of consistent association between CPU cores and their data streams resulting in efficient multicore system load balancing of network traffic processing. The result is better utilization of CPU resources and lower power consumption. The classification engine that drives multicore scalability consists of packet prioritization for Quality of Service (QoS), configurable interrupt rate per channel, and has no limitation on channel and queue association.
